Held Together — Day 1: The Account

Held Together · Day 1: The Account
About 4 minutes. Listen, or read below.

Beloved,

You are the one people call.

You run the meeting, the department, the ministry, the household, sometimes all four before noon. You are competent. You are dependable. And somewhere along the way, holding everything together became the thing you're known for.

So let me ask you the question nobody asks the capable ones:

What is it costing your body?

Because the body keeps an account. Every late night you pushed through. Every grief you didn't have time to feel. Every "I'm fine" said through a clenched jaw. None of it disappears. It gets filed somewhere: in your joints, your gut, your sleep, your blood sugar, your skin. And the account can run a deficit for years before anything shows up on a lab report.

That's usually when people find me. The labs came back "normal." The doctor was kind, and busy. And you went home still exhausted, still inflamed, still waking at 3 a.m. with your heart racing, and quietly decided the problem must be you.

It isn't you. It's the account.

Over these five days I'm going to show you what's in it. Three things, and I want you to hear the word I'm about to use, because it's the whole point:

Inflammation: the fire in the body that was built to heal you and was never meant to stay lit.
Hidden trauma: the wounds your mind moved past that your body never did.
And the anchor: Jesus Christ, the One in whom, Scripture says, all things hold together.

Not inflammation or trauma. Not science or faith. Not your doctor or your Bible. And.

Most of what you've been offered splits you into pieces: a specialist for the gut, a counselor for the anxiety, a sermon for the soul, and nobody assigned to the whole person. But you were not made in pieces. "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14). One work. Not a committee project.

I didn't arrive at this in a classroom. I spent years inside hospitals, watching people get handed clean results and sent home still unwell. In 2013, God gave me a vision of a different way to teach the body, with anatomy, the science of trauma, and Scripture held together instead of kept apart. I stepped out on faith to build it. These five days are the doorway.

Today, one thing: Write down three symptoms you've stopped mentioning to anyone, the ones you got tired of being told were nothing. Just three. Keep the list. We come back to it on Day Five.

Tomorrow: why inflammation isn't your enemy, and why it won't turn off.

I'm glad you're here.

Dina
